Your BECE aggregate is the total score you get after adding up the grades from your best six subjects. Each subject has a grade, and the lower your grade, the better. The final number you get is called your aggregate score.

Step 1: Understand the BECE Grading System

BECE Grades Explained

BECE subjects are graded from 1 to 9. Here's what the grades mean:

- Grade 1: Excellent

- Grade 2: Very Good

- Grade 3: Good

- Grade 4: Credit

- Grade 5: Pass

- Grade 6: Pass

- Grade 7 to 9: Fail

Step 2: Choose Your Best Six Subjects

Picking the Right Subjects

When calculating your BECE aggregate, you only use your best six subjects. These subjects must include:

1. English Language

2. Mathematics

3. Integrated Science

4.Social Studies (whichever is better)

5. With two best electives (I.e RME, ICT Creative arts, career technology and you area Ghanaian language)

These are the six subjects you’ll use for the final calculation.

Step 3: Add Up Your Grades

 Simple Addition

After identifying your best six subjects, write down the grades for each subject. Add them together to get your aggregate score.

For example, if your grades for the six subjects are:

- English: 2

- Mathematics: 1

- Integrated Science: 3

- Social Studies: 2

- French: 4

- ICT: 2

The total is 2 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 4 + 2 = 14.

Step 4: Understand What Your Aggregate Means

 The Lower the Better

The lower your aggregate score, the better your chances of getting into a top Senior High School. Most top schools prefer students with aggregates between 6 and 15.

Now that you know how to calculate your BECE 2014 aggregate, go ahead and check your scores!
